About Us

In November 2018, Bishop Joseph Srampickal established the Syro-Malabar Misson of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Wolverhampton.

The mission was established to enhance the spiritual growth of all the faithful according to the liturgical traditions and norms of the Syro-Malabar church, by the celebration of the Holy Qurbana, the celebration of sacraments and sacramentals, the proclamation of the word of god and teachings of the church, the fait formation of children, youth and adults, and the promotion of Christian value and culture.

The new mission was comprised of the Syro-Malabar faithful of the following Holy Qurbana centres; Walsall, Sedgley, and Telford.

Rev. Fr. John Mullakara (Terin Thomas Mullakara) was appointed as the first Mission director in-charge who fulfilled the pastoral and ecclesiastical needs of the Syro-Malabar faithful of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Mission, Wolverhampton.

Rev.Fr. Thomas Arathil was appointed as Mission Director in August 2019, taking responsibility of the Faithful in OLPH Misson Wolverhampton.

In March 2022, Our beloved Rev.Fr. George Thomas Chelackal has taken charge as Misson director for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Mission, Wolverhampton.

And leading from forefront with unwavering spiritual commitment to guide and support the faithful of the church through the intercession of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, patroness of this mission, St. Joseph, St. Thomas the Apostle, St. Alphonsa of the immaculate conception and all the saints.

Our Journey

Syro-Malabar Catholic Mission in Wolverhampton UK – A Journey of Faith

In August 2001, a convention was held in Stafford under the leadership of Father Joseph Narikuzhi and Sister Ansila. Beloved members of the Church were present on the day to grow in faith as stepping stone for church services in Wolverhampton, Sedgley and Walsall area.

Syro-Malabar Spirit in Wolverhampton

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Mission is a faith-filled Syro-Malabar Catholic community that believes in the saving love of Jesus Christ, a church rooted in tradition, guided by the Holy Spirit, and united in love for God and one another.

We gather to celebrate the Holy Qurbana in Malayalam, grow in faith through fellowship, and serve our local and global community with joy and compassion.

Safeguarding

All adult volunteers who have contact with Children and Young People and or Vulnerable Adults are checked in accordance with Catholic national and diocesan procedures. They carry out their volunteer activity in accordance with good, safe practice standards. Our parish Safeguarding representative undertakes the local work in relation to the procedures and the checking is undertaken by the diocesan safeguarding team.
